inside starbucks looking out.
i am on a stage of memory
around me alls dissolved into symbols
the hubbub of people catching up on their week happenings has no language
the girl next to me, waves her hand like an exclamation mark, expressing her anxiety
the listener nods her head tentatively like a full stop giving support
i cannot hear what they are saying
only peek from the edge of my eyes
these symbols evolve into something familiar
the curly swifts of coffee
the mellow warm jazz
the wooden furniture
the green white round symbol
the soft streak of yellow light
the spot light
the light of
memory
spiky haired you with your sporty smell of manly sweat
low husky notes of accented english
you seated opposite me on those wooden chairs
you with your head down occasionally up for your eyes
to breathe in the environment and to escape boring symbols of knowledge
sometimes with head up you smile
that smile
the smile of
memory
within your uplifted grin
images of you and me tap dance from left to right
me seeing you for the first time
wanting to experience your spiky hair
you seated on the sparkling grass shone by the sun
your eyes half open refusing to let the sun shut you down
curious me stooping over helping you with your battle
you opened your eyes in glory of your own game
and smiled.
i won the prize of hearing your name from your lips.
sunday morning, costume sale
you tagged along not knowing we were going by ourselves
long bus ride of windy roads and stop lights
time gave me your interest
love to play rugby, can cook and sew
i fell into something unknown
dizzy spinning i blabbed whilst we shopped
four pairs of antique shoes in garbage bag later
we took quick monorail home.
halloween night, party
attracted me grooved with you
my eyes tracing your every move
in the dark night i made my move
invitation to view stars.
lying down on dewed blanketed grass
we shared more of our past
suddenly in the deep quiet night
a streak of silver greeted the sky
we both clasped our hands
wished
wish. i want to know you more.
sunday morning, studying time
under the bright beautiful sun
you made your move
invitation to study, when really it was invitation being alone.
spiky haired you opposite me
quietly head down in taking knowledge
occasionally head up to peek at my eyes
sometimes our eye beams would intersect
sparking out mutual emotions
i would avert by looking to your right
at the green and white symbol
hoping your eyes could not translate my eyes
you smiled
a warm smile of assurance
i knew.
the curly swifts of coffee fill up my head
the mellow warm jazz wraps my ears
the wooden furniture offers me rest
the green and white symbol a logo of memory
the soft streak of yellow light
the spot light
the light.
you.
