The Motorcycle Diaries

Friday night, May 6th. My date with two beautiful sweeties called Fishy Christie and Jessie Pineapple. We went to a movie theater called SPOT.

I think it used to be the old American Embassy. The mediterranean white building stands amidst velvet green grass, and is turned into gold at night by the lights surrounding it.

It's a must to visit if you are ever in Taipei, so romantic, special, artsy and out of place amongst the busy shops around the Chung San.

We went to watch "The Motorcycle Diaries" a movie about the Cuban revolutionists Che Guevera. It was amazing. Some people said it wasn't such a good movie but for me. That was me. My dream of traveling around for no reason and talking to people from different areas. I admire his courage and kindness. The movie also got me thinking about history. I am not very clear on what the previous world image was of Che, but from my vague memory I think most western views; mainly American, perceived Che as a rebel. But the movie did a very good job of offering a new side of the story. It showed the reason for Che's desire to rebel and it showed kindness rather than my previous misconception of a selfish revolutionist. (this could also be because I lack knowledge about che)

I liked the black and white non moving shots at the end of the movie. It forced me to take a deep look at the faces staring out at me, to remember their story from the movie. I liked the passionate music that runs through the movie. Guitars stringing along their motorcycle trip.

I must admit, this kind of journey cannot be afforded by just any one. It takes a person who appreciates the world they live in to enjoy this kind of journey. It takes a person who can smile at the minute differences in the world to enjoy the strenuous walk . It takes a person with courage to believe that this kind of journey is not a waste of time or money. It takes my breathe away.

It's a simple movie, sharing a simple way to enjoy the simplicities of life.

Yeaaaaah!!!
I have just finished reading the book written by Alberto Granado, the partner of Che Guevara's lively trip. It's also fun to see Guevara through the Alberto's eyes. I haven't seen the movie yet though, I know, I must see it & I must have a travel like them!

Today, I also read an article about a Japanese guy who traveled the world with his wheelbarrow, he even acrossed the Safara desert, pulling his wheelbarrow by himself... crazy crazy crazy... but also... you know what I mean.
